#Solidrocks 3ds max 2016 free
This is how you get totally flicker free renders across a farm, with no pre calculation.

You may need settings of 6000 and 4 or 12000 and 8 (see the relationship?) For animations you'll have to increase these settings. The subdivs creates the light cache, the retrace looks at the solution, finds errors and mistakes and recalculates the light cache until those errors are reduced or eliminated.įor most still renders the default settings of 3000 and 2 are fine. The important thing to understand is that Subdivs and Retrace work as a team and are functions of each other. This is my preference since I feel the secondary engine contributes too much light to the render, washing out shadows. Click the "Default" tab until you get to "Expert," then reduce the secondary engine multiplier to. In the Global Illumination tab use Brute force for the primary engine and Light Cache for the secondary engine. In general there's no need to adjust the Multiplier, but you can reduce the Burn value if you have hot spots in your render. Type should be Reinhard, which is the best overall compromise. Also, this is why you should only use V Ray lights with V Ray. V Ray is much smarter than you are and will figure out the most efficient settings for quality vs. That is why you avoid using them unless absolutely needed.Īll you need to know is NEVER check and use local subdivs. 99% of the time the source of noise is going to be a self-illuminated texture. Instead, find the culprit for the noise in your scene. 008 can increase render times as much as 20% or more. Be careful turning this down to fix a noisy render because reducing this value, even down to. Noise Threshold controls-wait for it-noise.01 is generally fine for most scenes. Min Subdivs of 1 and Max Subdivs of 24 are more than good enough for renderings up to 4K. This is where you control the anti aliasing and noise of your renders.

In the V Ray tab, switch the Image Sampler to "Bucket." The "Progressive" image sampler is the un biased engine, which is not what you want. V Ray has become much smarter over the years, but unfortunately the documentation has not kept pace and much of what you read online is no longer correct.įor instance, there is no need to pre calculate anything before sending a render to a farm (the only caveat is all machines must have the same motherboard and use the same versions of VRay, Max and Backburner.)
